SAINTS will wear their black and yellow third kit when they face Leeds United at Wembley Stadium this week.
The Championship's third and fourth-placed teams will compete in the playoff final for the last spot in next season's Premier League.
Leeds were earlier confirmed as the 'home' team for the meeting, meaning they will wear their classic white strip.
Their league finish decided which team wears what kit in the final, with the EFL essentially labelling the highest-placed team as the ‘home’ side.
Saints may not be able wear their home or away strips due to potential kit clashes, although the specific reason why has not been confirmed, with Leeds wearing blue at St Mary's this season.
Both teams wear white socks with their home strip, while EFL regulations prevent clubs from mixing and matching colour combinations of their kits throughout the season.
Saints beat Leeds 2-1 on the final day of the campaign at Elland Road in the black and yellow strip they will be wearing on Sunday.
Saints have only been beaten twice this season in the strip, in a cup defeat to Gillingham and a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Sunderland.
They have won six and drawn five of the other 11 fixtures in which they have worn the kit. Saints wore yellow in their FA Cup victory over Manchester United in 1976.
They also wore yellow to Millenium Stadium for the 2003 FA Cup final, in which they were beaten by Arsenal.
