DEFENDER Ryan Manning admitted his plans to "go mental for a week" after promotion to the Premier League with Saints.

The 27 year old helped Saints see out a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the Championship playoff final at Wembley last Sunday.

Manning was then filmed celebrating promotion as he partied with permanent Saints signing Taylor Harwood-Bellis later that night.

The Irish international then covered the squad and supporters in champagne as he arrived on stage at St Mary's the next day.

Manning made 40 Championship appearances for Saints this season - his first with the club - including in all three playoff matches.

Speaking to the Daily Echo at Wembley, Manning exclaimed: "I don't know know what to say, speechless still.

"I probably won't have any voice in a few hours. No, it's unbelievable and the best moment of my career.

"For us to have come through in such a long season, to have just finally got over the line, it's just unbelievable."

Manning followed Saints boss Russell Martin from Swansea City last summer, moving on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

He had Premier League interest after five goals and 10 assists last season but foresaw a route into the top flight with his former manager.

"This moment did come into my mind," Manning insisted.

"So much throughout the season as well. I think we had times where we probably had to really dig in and believe.

"We did and now we're just going to really enjoy it. Now we're just going to go mental for about a week."
