NOTTINGHAM Forest are reportedly leading the race to sign Southampton forward Che Adams on a free transfer.

Saints revealed talks are ongoing with the Scotland international whose deal is set to expire this summer.

It had been reported that Wolves were in advanced talks with the 27 year old over a return to the Midlands.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has detailed that Nottingham Forest are confident that they can get a deal "done soon" after offering the former Birmingham forward "better terms."

Saints boss Russell Martin has expressed his desire to keep Adams for the Premier League campaign but conceded other clubs may be able to offer better terms.

Adams scored 16 times for Southampton this season as they won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs.
