SOUTHAMPTON'S busy summer of transfer negotiations continues as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis has already become the first signing ahead of the 2024/25 season after promotion triggered his obligation to buy clause.
The club are continuing to work on adding other players to Russell Martin's squad, while also offloading others.
Here is a rundown of where the Daily Echo understands Southampton are on Alex McCarthy, Che Adams, Paul Onuachu and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain...
Adams and McCarthy contract situations
Southampton announced that they remained in talks with Adams, 27, and McCarthy, 34, when they released their retained list following the 2023/24 seasons.
Their futures remain up in the air at St Mary's with reports suggesting that Adams is a strong target for Premier League side Wolves.
Recruitment chiefs have taken a look at a couple of potential new goalkeepers as they await McCarthy's decision.
Saints have lined up a goalkeeper and are prepared to sign him if the former England international does not make a decision soon.
Martin has previously voiced his desire to keep Adams, McCarthy and Stuart Armstrong, who the club have already confirmed will depart at the end of his contract.
Onuachu's loan success drawing permanent suitors in Turkey
Onuachu, 30, is attracting interest from Turkish clubs, including Besiktas and Fenerbahce after, following his successful loan spell in the Super Lig.
Trabzonspor are also keen to keep the Nigerian international next season, however, have so far been unwilling to match Southampton's valuation, meaning a move to Besiktas or Fenerbahce is more likely at this stage.
Onuachu scored 17 times in 25 games on loan at Trabzonspor, helping them to a third-place finish.
Oxlade-Chamberlain return on the cards?
Keeping with Turkey, Saints academy graduate Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a return to the club from Besiktas.
We understand that this move is unlikely.
Southampton are however looking to sign midfielders following Armstrong's exit and the end of Flynn Downes and Joe Rothwell's loans.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 30, scored four times and got one assist in 20 Super Lig appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
