SAINTS Women have confirmed that striker Katie Wilkinson will depart the club upon the expiry of her contract.

With her deal set to expire this summer, and an offer of re-engagement unable to be agreed, Wilkinson will leave after two seasons on the South Coast.

She made 46 appearances since joining for Saints' debut season in the Women's Championship, scoring 17 goals in that time.

A club statement adds: "We would like to thank Katie for her efforts during her time at the club and wish her all the best for the future."

Wilkinson is a two-time Championship top goalscorer and by far Southampton FC's most experienced forward.

She had netted eight goals in the league last season, hitting two against Reading in her last game for the club.

Wilkinson missed the final four games of the campaign through injury, as Saints recorded a record points total of 39 and a fourth-place league finish.

They finished just seven points behind champions Crystal Palace, in Marieanne Spacey-Cale's final season as head coach.

The boss - an England legend and former Lionesses coach - has stepped up to a boardroom role as director of women's football.

Saints have already confirmed the signing of Welsh international Rachel Rowe, who was considered one of the best players in Scotland last year.

There is no confirmation on the future of Sophia Pharoah and Ella Morris, who remain in contract talks with the club.
