WITH the transfer window now officially open Saints continue to be linked with a number of players ahead of their Premier League return.

Southampton have already announced academy graduate Adam Lallana's return and the pre-contract deal which will bring Japanese youth international Rento Takaoka to the club in March 2025.

Defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has also made his loan move permanent following promotion to the Premier League.

Here are the latest rumours surrounding Saints from media outlets elsewhere...

Saints to boost attack with entertaining Championship winger?

Saints are reportedly 'planning' to make a move for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene as they look to add attacking quality.

Russell Martin will need to replace David Brooks following the end of his loan, while Che Adams could still depart on a free transfer.

The Daily Echo have previously reported progress in their attempt to re-sign Ryan Fraser permanently and TEAMTalk now suggest that Hull's Philogene could be another option at St Mary's.

The 22 year old enjoyed a successful season with the Tigres in the Championship, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 32 league games.

The same report suggests that West Ham could also make a move for the former Villa winger, who is known for taking on his man.

Saints interested in adding Brazilian defender

Southampton have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Brazilian full-back Welington from Sao Paulo.

The 23 year old has made 142 appearances for the Brazilian giants since making his debut in 2020 and is an under-23 international.

Spanish publication Relevo reports that Torino and Saints are chasing a deal for the left-back.

Saints are set to receive around £3million for French left-back Romain Perraud, who is set to join Spanish side Real Betis.

That leaves Ryan Manning as the club's only out-and-out senior left-back, while youngsters Jayden Meghoma and Juan Larios offer further depth.

Youngster could leave on loan again

Academy defender Lewis Payne is reportedly drawing loan interest from League One Exeter City, Bristol Rovers and Lincoln City.

The 20 year old spent the 2023/24 season out on loan at League Two Newport County, where he made 41 appearances across all competitions.

According to Football Insider, Payne could spend another season on loan in order to further his development.

Payne has also previously spent time at local National League side Eastleigh and faced Manchester United in the FA Cup during his spell in Wales.

The right-back made his senior Southampton debut in a 3-0 EFL Cup win over Cambridge United in August 2022.
