EX-SAINTS defender Yan Valery has returned to English football, reuniting with former Southampton assistant Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tunisian international has joined the Championship outfit for an undisclosed fee from French side Angers SCO.

Valery, 25, made his professional football debut at Southampton having joined their youth ranks from Stade Rennais.

The French-born defender went on to make 53 appearances for Saints across all competitions before departing for Angers in 2022.

His most memorable moment in a Southampton shirt came in 2019 when he crashed in a long-range screamer at Manchester United.

Valery played 68 times for the French side during his two seasons at the club. Last year he featured in Ligue 2 following their relegation.
