SAINTS are 'weighing up a move' for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale according to a recent report.

The England international is said to want first-team football after losing his place at the Emirates to David Raya last season.

Ramsdale, 26, was in the Saints end to support his friend David Brooks for their playoff final triumph over Leeds United last season.

The former AFC Bournemouth and Sheffield United goalkeeper was seen in fancy dress celebrating with Brooks after Adam Armstrong's goal secured a 1-0 win.

The Sun report that Southampton are likely to favour a potential loan move for Ramsdale in a bid to secure a 'top-level, experienced goalkeeper.'

Veteran shot-stopper Alex McCarthy, 34, has signed a new two-year contract at St Mary's following his playoff heroics.

Saints also have Joe Lumley and Polish goalkeeper Mateusz Lis back at Staplewood, while usual first-choice Gavin Bazunu is working back from an Achilles injury.

Martin has insisted that Saints will look to strengthen the squad as much as they can without jeopardising the club's financial position.

Ramsdale played just 11 times for the Gunners across all competitions last season, with six of those appearances coming in the Premier League.

He is currently away with England at the European Championships and is likely to be on the bench for their final against Spain this evening.
