SAINTS have reportedly had an enquiry for young winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi rejected by Crystal Palace.

Rak-Sakyi, 21, made six Premier League appearances last season and excelled on his Premier League 2 return, scoring a hattrick on the final day of the season.

Rak-Sakyi was part of Palace’s squad at the beginning of last season but then picked up a hamstring injury that kept him out until April.

The youngster netted the treble against eventual league and play-off winners Tottenham Hotspur, who were comfortably the country's best academy team.

Rak-Sakyi had spent the 2022/23 season on loan at League One Charlton Athletic, scoring 15 goals and providing a further eight assists in their league campaign.

Sky Sports report that Saints have had a move knocked back, and were keen on a loan deal with an option to buy the player permanently.

However, the report details that Palace do not want to see him move to a Premier League rival and they plan to loan him into the Championship for his development.

They suggest the former Chelsea youth player and England youth international, however, is keen on playing for Russell Martin.

The report adds that there is interest from 15 of the 24 Championship clubs in a loan deal this time around.
