EASTLEIGH boss Kelvin Davies was pleased with the levels shown in his side's 1-0 win over Swindon Town on Sunday.
An early goal from Solomon Nwabuokei ensured the Spitfires secured a pre-season victory over League Two opposition at the Silverlake Stadium.
The retired goalkeeper insisted he is not getting carried away by the positive signs shown in pre-season ahead of their season opener against Maidenhead United on August 10.
Davis said: "We are two weeks out (from the start of the season). Now is the time to start turning the performances up a bit.
"Some lads played more minutes today. That was about asking them to compete for 80 or 90 minutes.
"From a fitness perspective, the lads performed really well. In pre-season, that's what you look to first.
"I thought we showed good levels of physicality today. That's a big plus for us. The weather made it hard work.
"It gives you belief as a player that you can work at that level for that amount of time. We will be as fit as we can for the first game of the season.
"I won't get carried away. We know where we are. I think we are in a good place with two weeks to go."
