FORMER Saints striker Charlie Austin has completed his medical ahead of a move to seventh tier AFC Totton, the Daily Echo understands.
The 35 year old is set to sign for the Stags ahead of the 2024/25 Southern Premier League campaign, after narrowly missing out on promotion last season.
They hope Austin, who departed League Two Swindon Town in June, can make his debut for the club in Saturday's home friendly against Forest Green Rovers.
Austin appeared in all 46 matches of last season's League Two competition, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. He netted twice in one FA Cup outing.
Austin played 81 times for Saints between 2016 and 2019 and was on the scoresheet 20 times, before controversially exiting the club.
He has since taken aim at the club's supporters on social media and played for Championship QPR and West Brom, and Brisbane Roar in the A-league.
The signing represents a major coup for the Snows Stadium club, who this summer appointed Saints legend James Beattie as director of football.
