DEFENDER Meg Collett insisted that Southampton FC Women know what they need to do in order to push for the top spot in the Women's Championship.
Saints, now coached by Remi Allen, are targeting promotion to the Women's Super League having achieved a club-record fourth-place finish last season.
The Women's Championship promises to be fiercely competitive this season with recently relegated Bristol City and well-backed London City Lionesses among the strongest contenders.
Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Collett outlined Saints' ambitions for their third campaign in the Women's Championship.
"We want to be really clear with how we play. We want to have an identity. Remi is drilling that into us.
"I don't want to give too much away but we want to be aggressive and we want to get promoted. That's our aim.
"It's going to be tough but we are aware of that. The teams that got promoted, Newcastle and Pompey, are good.
"Bristol City coming down. We know what to expect. We know they are going to be clinical and we know what we need to push for that top spot.
"We know that we can only control what we can control. With Remi coming in, we've got a new way of playing.
"We are excited and ultimately want to get promoted on how we want to play. Remi has been really good, she has settled in straight away.
"All of the girls love her. Credit to the recruitment team because we have done well in bringing in a new manager.
"She has a clear identity. I lost quite a few good friends this year (in the squad) but we have also brought some good players in.
"We understand that is part and parcel of football. People come and go. Ultimately we just need to reach our goal with the players that we have here."
