SAINTS boss Russell Martin insisted this week's friendlies are the last chance for players to earn a spot in his starting lineup ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Saints welcome Italian giants Lazio to St Mary's on Wednesday evening (7.30pm) before facing La Liga outfit Getafe on Saturday (2.00pm).
Martin has outlined that he will select two "different" teams across the fixtures as he has done throughout pre-season so far.
Martin expects to have Sekou Mara fit to face Lazio after the French striker missed Southampton's 1-0 win at Millwall on the weekend.
The two friendlies will be the final opportunity for players to play themselves into Martin's lineup for the opening weekend trip to Newcastle United.

Speaking to the club's media team, Martin outlined his expectations ahead of their doubleheader at St Mary's this week.
He said: "They are going to be really different challenges for us. Both games are a step up in opposition to what we have faced.
"I'm really looking forward to it and being in front of the home crowd again. It's the final week of preparation in terms of matches.
"Then we have a full week before we go up to Newcastle. I'm looking forward to both games, the teams will be different across both games.
"People will have their last opportunity to really stake a claim to be in the team. That brings its own edge and excitement.
"As does being at home. I'm really looking forward to it. Sekou will probably be involved for sure. Ross and Adam maybe for the second game, we will see."
Saints have recorded four wins in pre-season, against Eastleigh, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Millwall.
The low point of pre-season was their 2-0 defeat at Championship side Oxford United. Defender Ryan Manning described that defeat as a wake-up call.
