SIGNING Cameron Archer admitted he wants to show the supporters his goal celebration as he sat down for a first Saints interview.

The 22 year old striker celebrates his Premier League finishes with a customary Archer celebration in homage to his name.

Archer became the club's ninth signing of the summer window when he joined in a £15million deal from Aston Villa on Friday.

He goes straight into the squad for the Premier League opener at Newcastle United and is keen to build on his four strikes last campaign.

Archer said: "I want to keep scoring goals and improve myself as a player - and I don't think there is a better place than Southampton.

"I feel fit and ready, I am raring to go and I want to get out on the pitch. The aim is to stay up, improve and I am hoping I can make memories."

Asked for his message to the Saints supporters, Archer responded: "Hopefully, I can bring that archer celebration out very soon!"

Archer spent last season at Sheffield United, where he played alongside new teammate Ben Brereton Diaz for the second half of the campaign.

The Walsall-born forward has also shared a pitch with England youth internationals Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Nathan Wood from the Saints squad.

“I didn't speak to them before I signed as it happened so quickly, but I had a good chat with them when I came,” Archer said.

"I've seen them this morning, they've all got something positive to say, it's nice. Obviously, I knew Ben from last year. I had a good chat with him so it's nice.

“Me and Ben, we love to run and get in behind – similar playing style and we can try and do well on the pitch together.

"The facilities are amazing here, I didn't expect it - everything is brand new and it will help improve me as a player. Everyone says it is a good place to be."
