CAPTAIN Jake Taylor believes Eastleigh showed their "gritty side" during their 2-1 win over Solihull Moors on Tuesday evening.
The former Welsh international opened the scoring at the Silverlake Stadium on three minutes before last season's top goalscorer Paul McCallum doubled their lead moments later.
The Spitfires remained resolute at the back and held on for all three points despite Bradley Stevenson's 91st-minute goal.
Speaking to Eastleigh's media team, Taylor said: "This was a different type of win to Saturday. We had a lot more of the ball on Saturday and showed that side of our game.
“When you go 2-0 quite early, you have something to hold onto. You have to let the opposition come onto you a little bit.
“We showed the gritty side to us. Sometimes it can be tricky when you score really early because the game completely changes.
“We defended really well as a unit. As a team, everyone played their part. It’s disappointing to concede a goal at the end but it’s great to get the three points.”
He concluded: “It’s been nice (to score two goals in two). I’ve been working really hard. Thankfully, I was in the right place at the right time in the last two games.”
Tuesday evening's win saw Eastleigh extend their 100 per cent start to the National League season to three games.
Manager Kelvin Davis has been named National League manager of the month for August as a result.
