SAINTS have confirmed the permanent transfer of defender Jayden Meghoma to Premier League rivals Brentford.
The 18 year old, who arrived from Tottenham on an initial scholarship in 2022, made four senior appearances during his time on the south coast.
Meghoma's Southampton contract was due to expire at the end of this season with the youngster having no intention of signing an extension.
Saints will receive an initial £5million for Meghoma's services and a further £5million in add-ons, boosting the club's financial figures.
On social media, Meghoma said: "It has been an honour to play for Southampton.
"I want to thank all the staff, coaches, and most importantly, the fans, who have supported me throughout my time at the club.
"I wish the fans, my teammates and staff the very best for the future. Thank you."
A Saints statement added: "The club would like to wish Jayden luck for the future."
Meghoma was not involved in Southampton's senior pre-season despite his semi-regular involvement in the squad last campaign.
Had he signed a new deal with the club and committed his future, he would likely have seen the pitch during the club's tour in Spain.
