YOUNG defender Jayden Meghoma hopes his deadline day move to Brentford from Saints can further his career.
Meghoma, 18, moved to the Bees for an initial £5million in a deal which could rise to £10million with add-ons.
The England youth international spent the whole of last season training with the senior squad and made four cup appearances last season.
Meghoma remained with the under-21s this summer while fellow starlets Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Tyler Dibling stepped up to the senior team permanently.
Speaking in his first interview as a Brentford player, Meghoma explained he hopes to become a Premier League player in the near future.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here. It’s an amazing feeling. Thomas Frank was a big factor in me coming here. He really sold the project to me.
“He told me I would play here and really further my development. I’m really excited to get started.
It has been an honour to play for @SouthamptonFC

“The way he (Frank) is with young players sold Brentford to me. I’ve been made to feel welcome.”
Meghoma joined Southampton's academy from Tottenham in August 2022 before signing his first pro contract in July 2023.
His debut came in a Carabao Cup defeat against Gillingham at the start of last season before three more appearances in the FA Cup.
Meghoma did not feature for the Saints first team during pre-season as other youngsters were given senior exposure instead.
On his time with the Southampton first team, Meghoma added: “That was an amazing feeling, playing in front of big crowds. That was an amazing feeling and experience.
“I feel like it’s given me the opportunity to come to Brentford and really further my career. I want to be a Premier League football player.
“I want to make sure I play a lot of minutes for Brentford and ultimately become the best player that I can be."
