SAINTS are hopeful of concluding a deal to see Sam Edozie move to Belgian Pro League side RSC Anderlecht on loan.
Edozie, 21, was set for a temporary spell at Rangers but the Scottish giants did not complete the move in time ahead of the UK deadline.
The two clubs had agreed a loan fee but Rangers opted to pull out of the deal with Edozie on his way to Glasgow and with not enough time to move elsewhere.
Saints are open to Edozie's exit this summer after re-signing Ryan Fraser and adding loanee Maxwell Cornet in the former Man City man's position.
The Daily Echo understands the club are hopeful of completing his loan transfer to Anderlecht on Wednesday evening ahead of the Belgian deadline this week.
All parties have agreed the move but nothing is finalised, as Saints have seen with Kamaldeen Sulemana's switch to Ajax hanging in the balance.
There is not expected to be an option to buy in Edozie's loan to Anderlecht, who qualified for the UEFA Europa League this season.
Edozie, who signed a five-year contract for more than £5million in 2022, could add to his 63 appearances for Saints, in which he has scored six goals.
Last week, manager Russell Martin said: "I was gutted for Sam because it was too late to then find another opportunity to go and play football.
"He wasn't in the squad on Saturday because of the speculation, but also Sam Amo-Ameyaw deserves to be in the squad more than he does right now.
"Unfortunately, I'm the guy who takes that opportunity of playing away. It's the hardest bit of the job so we'll have a chat on Monday."
