SAINTS defender Armel Bella-Kotchap has claimed he is "100 per cent ready physically and mentally" to take his chance on the pitch.

The 22 year old was left out of the squad by manager Russell Martin as Saints progressed past Everton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Martin told the Daily Echo that there has been no fallout but he is picking the "best squad to win" when asked about the German's exclusion.

Bella-Kotchap has spoken out for the first time since a permanent transfer to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim fell through, insisting he is ready.

He posted on Instagram: “The last few weeks have been turbulent and unpredictable, but I‘m 100 per cent fit both physically and mentally.

“I‘m just waiting for my chance, and I‘ll lead with my performance on the field when the time is ready. P.S. Don't believe everything you read in the media."

Bella-Kotchap's only appearance under the boss came in the previous round at Cardiff City, before Europe's transfer windows had shut.

Asked about Bella-Kotchap after his side's penalty shootout victory at Goodison Park, Martin said: "I pick a squad that I think is the best to win. It is that simple.

"There's no personal fallout. We had honest conversations before the transfer window closed and after the transfer window closed. It's not ideal for him."

Bella-Kotchap looks set to remain at Saints until at least January and Martin has not ruled out a return for any players currently out of the squad.
