MIDFIELDER Adam Lallana rolled back the years on his first Premier League start since re-joining Southampton this summer.

The 36 year old provided the assist for Tyler Dibling, 18, to score his first ever Premier League goal for Southampton.

A late Sam Morsy equaliser saw Ipswich snatch a point in additional time after Aaron Ramsdale produced some important saves.

Here's how we rated every Southampton player's performance at St Mary's...

Aaron Ramsdale - 8.

Yet another impressive display from summer signing Ramsdale. Made key saves to deny Omari Hutchinson and George Hirst. Could do nothing for Morsy's late equaliser. Praised by Russell Martin for what he offers on the ball. Continues to show why he is an important signing.

Yukinari Sugawara - 7.

Combined well with Dibling once again, helping him in some aspects of the game. Whipped in an inviting low ball as Southampton chased a second, but nobody met it. Further solidified his spot at right-back following Kyle Walker-Peters' move to the bench.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis - 6.

Came back in from the start for a Premier League game with Jack Stephens out through suspension. Made some important interventions when Saints were under pressure in the first half.

He made some key tackles and blocks, much like Harwood-Bellis. Won all of his tackles and made three clearances. His best performance since stepping back into the Premier League.

Charlie Taylor - 6.

Came in from the start for the first time in the league, displacing Walker-Peters on the left. Threw himself in the way of crosses before getting booked for wiping out Wes Burns and Lallana. A solid maiden league start.

Flynn Downes - 6.

Wore the captain's armband in the absence of Stephens. Another solid performance - as we have come to expect from him. Did see a yellow for a scuffle with Liam Delap after a foul on Bednarek.

Adam Lallana - 8.

Rather faultless during the 59 minutes he was on the pitch. Completed 57 of the 59 passes he attempted. Helped younger players through the game with his experience and voice. Replaced early as Saints continued to manage his minutes.

Mateus Fernandes - 7.

Created more chances (3) than any other Southampton player. Should have had an assist when he played across for Cameron Archer. Looked like scoring but slipped running onto a rebound from Archer's shot. Could become a real gem.

Tyler Dibling - 8.

Grabbed the headlines with his first Premier League goal. Took his chance well, spinning Jacob Greaves before sending Arijanet Muric the wrong way. Nearly grabbed an assist when he played in Archer, who hit the post. Played countless balls into dangerous areas. Great again.

Ryan Fraser - 6.

Kept his place in the team after his performance at Everton on Tuesday evening. Southampton looked to find him with a long ball, which is not his strong point. Still looks like he's getting up to speed after not having a pre-season.

Cameron Archer - 6.

His first Premier League goal for Southampton continues to evade him. Hit the post from a tight after taking the ball around Muric. Saw another effort saved in the second half before failing to reach Fernandes' low ball. A league goal would do him a world of good.

Substitutes

Lesley Ugochukwu - 6.

Made just eight passes (completing them all) in the half hour after he replaced Lallana in midfield. Caught out on the ball when he could have played someone through.

Ben Brereton Diaz - 6.

His long run without a Premier League win continues. Looked like a threat after coming on for Fraser on the left. Crashed a first-time effort over from the edge of the box. Another player who could do with a goal.

Ross Stewart - 6.

Replaced Archer up top. Played in twice by Dibling but didn't have the pace to turn the passes into chances on goal. Gave away a needless free-kick in additional time when Saints were under pressure.

Touched the ball just twice after coming on for Dibling with 10 minutes to go.

Joe Aribo - N/A.

Came on as the clock ticked into seven minutes of additional time.
