SAINTS visit AFC Bournemouth looking for their first win of the new season on what is typically a happy hunting ground for the club.

Saints have not lost any of their last six visits to local Vitality Stadium, keeping four clean sheets and winning the last three trips in succession.

Manager Russell Martin insisted historic stats count for nothing as he prepares to take on Andoni Iraola's high-press on Monday evening.

Here is how we think he will line up for the clash...

Goalkeeper

Saints have made a good purchase in goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has stopped 2.2 expected goals more than he has conceded.

Defenders

Jack Stephens will serve the third of his three-game ban, meaning there is no debate over starting berths for Jan Bednarek and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Martin believes Yukinari Sugawara has been one of his side's best players, while Charlie Taylor adds a balance which right-footed Kyle Walker-Peters cannot.

Midfielders

Who would have thought Adam Lallana would be the first name on the team sheet in 2024? Class is permanent and the 36 year old is key.

He will knit everything together with Flynn Downes sitting just behind him and Mateus Fernandes stretching the opposition in front of him.

Attackers

Tyler Dibling is the only 100 per cent nailed-on starter in the front three and he will be buoyed by a career-first senior goal last time out.

Cameron Archer should keep his place despite going goalless while Ryan Fraser could start but may be saved to add experience to close out the match.
