MANAGER Remi Allen insisted there is "a lot more still to come" after Saints Women returned to winning ways against Sheffield United on Sunday.

Second half goals from loanee Freyga Gregory and top goalscorer Rianna Dean ensure Saints bounced back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Having struggled to create chances in the first half, Saints were much improved after the break and could have added further goals through Rachel Rowe and Molly Pike.

"I'm really pleased," Allen told the Daily Echo. "There are still moments where I think we can improve. Overall, I thought it was a strong performance.

"We bounced back from last weekend really, really well. It was a strong response and we could have won the game by more goals. I'm really pleased."

Gregory's opening goal opened her account for Saints having joined on loan from Aston Villa during the summer.

Allen, 33, played alongside Gregory, 21, during her time at Aston Villa and revealed she hopes a goal can help the winger reach the level she knows is possible.

"We brought Freya in because we know she has real quality," Allen continued. "I think she was quite frustrated with her first couple of games.

"We needed to get her higher up the pitch in areas where she can cause problems. I thought she was great at that today.

"At times she went one-on-one. Her cross selection was much better and she got her rewards with the goal. I'm buzzing for her.

"Freya has goals and assists in her. This goal should be a huge confidence boost for her and we can kick on from that now."

Goalscorer Dean grabbed her third of the season when she slotted past Sian Rogers having been set up by Rowe having come on from the bench.

"She was disappointed to be on the bench but I told her to give me a response by scoring a goal," Allen explained.

"I'm really proud of her - and I'm really pleased with the mental strength that she has shown to come on and implement that game plan.

"We got another clean sheet but I do think we can be a bit better defensively, especially in the transition. We have more work to do. A clean sheet is massive."
