NEWCASTLE United are reportedly interested in Saints youngster Tyler Dibling, who is enjoying a breakout season in the Premier League.

Dibling, 18, scored his first senior goal in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town and has started each of the last three fixtures for Saints.

Saints have already rejected offers for Dibling during his rise to the first team, having won the club's academy player of the year last campaign.

The I report that Newcastle are interested in academy graduate Dibling and could be 'ready to pounce' after a change in their financial circumstances.

The Magpies were forced into the sale of two of their own youngsters this summer to meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

They sold Yankuba Minteh, 20, to Brighton and Elliot Anderson, 21, to Nottingham Forest for a combined £70million in June.

They are no longer under such constraints and are said to be interested in Dibling, who scored a hat-trick at St James' Park in an under-21s match in 2022.

The Daily Echo understood that Newcastle were among the sides keen on Dibling before he moved to Chelsea that same year.

Dibling, who decided to cancel his transfer and returned to Saints from Cobham after three weeks, is under contract until at least 2026.

Manager Russell Martin suggested the club will look to extend those terms to protect Saints after Dibling's impressive performances with the first team.

He said: "The speculation is nothing for him or me. We are in a strong position and I'm sure we will look at securing and strengthening that even more."
