BOOKIES place Saints boss Russell Martin as their third-favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post this season.

The St Mary's side are winless from their first seven league matches and only held off the bottom of the table by struggling Wolves.

Saints picked up their only point in a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town but since suffered consecutive 3-1 defeats at AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal.

Martin has never managed at the Premier League level before but won Saints promotion via the Championship play-offs at the first attempt last season.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is made favourite to be the next manager to depart this season, with odds as short as 4/9 on Sky Bet.

The Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League with eight points from seven games, picking up one of only two wins 3-0 away at Saints in September.

Wolves head coach Gary O'Neil is second favourite at 7/2, also picking up one point but a goal difference of -12 puts them bottom of the league.

Martin, whose Saints side will visit Wolves on November 9, is ranked as third most likely to depart next with odds of 9/2.

The bookies feel these are the three most likely managers to be sacked next, with three London-based bosses next up on 20/1.

These are Tottenham Hotspur's Ange Postecoglu, West Ham's Julen Lopetegui and Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner. Sean Dyche and Steve Cooper are 25/1.

Speculation around Martin's job has already begun, with talkSPORT claiming Sport Republic owner Dragan Solak is 'concerned' with the team's form.

Saints host relegation rivals Leicester City at St Mary's up next before a trip to Man City acts as the precursor to key Everton and Wolves clashes.
