SAINTS were busy in the summer transfer window, signing 14 first-team players ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The St Mary's side also had to offload a number of players in order to avoid any financial punishments following heavy losses in previous seasons.

A total of six players departed on permanent deals - with two more leaving upon the expiration of their contracts. Here's how those players have fared since leaving Southampton...

Che Adams

Scotland international Che Adams departed St Mary's at the end of his contract, turning down a new deal in the process.

After a short spell as a free agent, the 28 year old joined Italian side Torino, signing a contract until 2027.

The former Birmingham City forward has enjoyed a strong start to life on the continent. He's hit form for Il Toro, scoring four and providing two assists in his first nine games.

Stuart Armstrong

Another Scottish international whose contract ran out at the end of last season was midfielder Stuart Armstrong.

The 32 year old's Saints tenure ended with injury after he was stretchered off at the end of an away defeat against Cardiff City.

Having been on trial with Premier League Brentford, Armstrong joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps. Armstrong has already scored for the Canadian club in a win over San Jose Earthquakes.

Charly Alcaraz

Fan favourite Charly Alcaraz's time on the south coast was brought to an end in the summer when he returned to South America, joining Brazilian giants Flamengo.

It followed a season which saw him depart on loan for Juventus having played a reduced role in the first half of the Championship season.

Alcaraz's final action at St Mary's was being sent off for fighting and he replicated that on his debut for Flamengo.

He has since enjoyed better moments with Flamengo and scored his first goal in a 2-0 win over Bahia.

Lyanco

Brazilian defender Lyanco also returned to South America, joining Atletico Minero having turned down a move to Qatari side Al-Gharafa.

And much like Alcaraz, Lyanco has already seen his first red card. The 27 year old was sent off against Corinthians in his second game for the club.

Sekou Mara

Saints cashed in on Sekou Mara and replaced the young French forward with Cameron Archer, who scored his first league goal against Arsenal last time out.

Mara returned to his home country, joining Strasbourg, but is yet to score in his first six games under Liam Rosenior.

Duje Caleta-Car

Defender Duje Caleta-Car joined Lyon on a permanent basis, following a loan spell at the French side last campaign.

The Croatian currently finds himself eighth in Ligue 1, already nine points off the pace at the top of the table.

He has, however, played every minute for Pierre Sage's side and even scored in a 3-2 defeat against rivals Marseille.

Romain Perraud

French full-back Romain Perraud never looked like he had a future under Russell Martin and departed for Spanish side Real Betis this summer.

The 27 year old insisted he only had good memories of his time at Saints upon leaving and has since established himself in Seville.

Perraud has played eight of Betis' nine league games this season as they find themselves 10th in La Liga.

Mateusz Lis

Having featured for Martin's Saints during pre-season, Polish goalkeeper Mateusz Lis departed on a permanent transfer to join Sport Republic sister club Goztepe.

Lis had spent the previous season in Turkey, helping Goztepe win promotion to the Superlig. He's kept two clean sheets from five games this season.
