SOUTHAMPTON'S Lewie Edmondson beat Dan Azeez to win the British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday evening.
Edmondson, now 10-0 (three of his wins have come via knock-out, went the distance before the Hampshire fighter was awarded the win by majority decision.
The cards read 114-114, 114-113 and 115-112 in Edmondson's favour, prompting an emotional reaction from the 28 year old.
Azeez looked to get at Edmondson, but the taller fighter made the most of his height advantage to keep the former British champion at bay with his jab.

The fight continued in this vein until the sixth round when things intensified somewhat as Azeez pinned Edmondson up against the ropes, delivering shots to both his head and body.
Edmondson fought back in the next round but was docked a point in the eighth for pushing the head of Azeez down and delivering a body shot after the break.
The fight, which had been without much action up to this point, seemed to finally catch fire in the tenth round when the pair battled in the middle of the ring.
Neither could find the knock-out blow as the match went the full 12 round - but Edmondson had done enough to secure the titles.
