MANAGER Kelvin Davis believes new signing Dominic Gape will add needed "quality" to Eastleigh's midfield options.
Gape, 30, has penned a short-term contract at the Silverlake Stadium following an extended period training with Eastleigh.
The Southampton academy graduate links back up with former goalkeeper Kelvin Davis, who was on the bench when Gape made his one and only Premier League appearance.
Gape has 183 EFL appearances to his name and most recently played for Sutton United in League Two.
Davis admitted Gape still needs to get up to match fitness but pledged to get the most out of the midfielder when available.
Asked about the decision to sign Gape, he said: “Dom is a good lad, I’ve know him from my Saints days as a young kid.
"He went on to Wycombe and had a really good career at a higher level. He has found himself without a club so we took the opportunity to bring him in.
“He’s trained with us for three weeks. He is slowly getting up to speed, which is what he needs to do.
“Dom is a good character. He can play in midfield for us and add numbers to the squad which is what we need.
"He’s got a bit of quality having played at a higher level. We will get the best out of Dom when he’s up to speed.
“He will look to help us in our development as we look to improve as a team and move us forward.”
