A sailing club has bought two paddleboards using a £1,000 grant arranged by a local councillor.
On Tuesday, October 3, Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club announced that the grant was arranged by Hampshire County Councillor Pam Bryant, allowing the club to buy two paddleboards for members and the community.
George Thomson, a former Commodore who arranged the deal, said: "The 11’ Aztron Eclipse is versatile and suitable for all water conditions. We expect it to become a firm favourite and attract many younger people to our membership."
Councillor Pam Bryant said: "Groups and organisations can apply to HCC for funding of minor capital projects that will benefit the community and I was pleased to help the Club to promote water sports in the area, particularly to younger residents."
The club, located on the Creek in Lower Quay, offers various water sports activities, including sailing, rowing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
