SAINTS players took to their social media accounts to celebrate Saturday's massive first win of the Premier League season.

The St Mary's side edged out Everton 1-0 in a close-run contest between potential relegation rivals thanks to a late goal from Adam Armstrong.

Saints had to wait until the 10th attempt for their first three points, just as the eventual survivors did during the 1998/1999 season.

In the hours after the match, the players shared messages of joy and thanks as they now target another great escape. Here is how they reacted...

Kyle Walker-Peters

"Be calm and trust the process.  🧱"

Mateus Fernandes

"Yes, we did it! Let’s go for more, thanks for the incredible atmosphere."

Tyler Dibling

"3 points at home! ❤️ Great win!"

Aaron Ramsdale

"First Win. 💪🏻 "

Yukinari Sugawara

"That moment we needed @southamptonfc."

Joe Aribo

"Three points at home & a solid team performance. 🙏🏾"

Taylor Harwood-Bellis

"+3! Thanks for the support, Saints. 🫶🏼"
