MANAGER Russell Martin dubbed Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Aaron Ramsdale's England call-ups a "brilliant carrot" for Southampton's "talented young players."

Martin revealed his squad celebrated Harwood-Bellis' maiden Three Lions inclusion and Ramsdale's recall at Staplewood on Friday.

He hopes more Saints players can strive for recognition on the international stage and pointed towards Tyler Dibling's under-21s call-up as a symbol for Southampton's young players.

Martin told the Daily Echo: "They celebrated them together as a group this morning which was really nice. We had a moment for them.

"They probably got embarrassed a little bit but the lads are really happy for them, they're a really brilliant group, they're together and they are genuinely really, really pleased.

"I also think having someone so close to you achieve that and get into that squad, I think it's a brilliant carrot for some of the players.

"There is some really talented young players, not all English players, in that dressing room. They should be aspiring for those things and this recognition.

"It's not ideal when so many going away on international duty, but I hope that the more we have this, it means the better we're doing as a group and individually. Hopefully we can continue to grow that."
