SAINTS manager Russell Martin delivered both good news and bad news as he assessed Paul Onuachu and Adam Lallana's injuries.
The boss is hopeful Onuachu was just suffering from fatigue when he had to come off in the 52nd minute of the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool.
The 30 year old Nigerian striker dazzled fans at St Mary's with his technical ability and endeavour on his first start for the club this season.
However, Lallana, 36, was withdrawn earlier in the 37th minute and could be sidelined with an injury the midfielder is "worried" about.
"Paul probably deserved to start before now, the way he's trained - he's been so good," said Martin, speaking to the Daily Echo.
"He was really good so I hope his injury is nothing too serious. It's just a bit of fatigue but I thought he played really, really well."
Martin added: "I think Adam's will be a bit worse than Paul's. So we'll have to assess that. He's a bit worried about it."
Saints, who are five points off safety at the bottom of the table, are back in action on Friday, November 29, as they visit high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion.
