SAINTS head coach Jan Poortvliet is eager to extend some of their loan deals until the end of the season.
There are currently six players on temporary contracts at St Mary’s, with FIVE of those due to return to their parent clubs at the end of this month.
Chelsea’s Jack Cork and Reading’s Alex Pearce are likely to be high on Poortvliet’s wish list, while Sheffield United’s Jordan Robertson has started the last three games.
Deals with Millwall’s Ryan Smith and Tottenham’s Tomas Pekhart are also due to expire.
Romain Gasmi is on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy him from RC Strasbourg in the summer.
Cork and Pearce were both subject of praise from the Saints head coach after the 0-0 draw at Charlton on Saturday.
Asked whether he would be looking to extend any loan deals, particularly for that pair, Poortvliet said: “I think that is clear.
“We want to keep the players we have and also those on loan and we do our best to try to do that."
