JAN POORTVLIET has not ruled out MORE January signings to boost Saints’ survival bid.

The head coach, pictured, has already snapped up defender Jan-Paul Saeijs and Lee Molyneux since the transfer window opened.

He has also seen Marek Saganowski return to his ranks after his loan spell at Aalborg.

Winger Ryan Smith has also signed a permanent contract with the club after initially being on loan from Millwall.

That has all added up to provide extra competition in the team and add some cover in vital areas of the pitch.

And it has come about at a time when everyone expected Saints to be selling players in the transfer window rather than signing them!

Though Poortvliet admitted there are obvious financial restrictions that will limit transfer activity, he has not given up on the idea of bringing in more fresh faces before the end of the month.

He said: “We are always looking at players who can make our team stronger and we will continue to look at it.

“We look at the financial situation and if it’s possible to bring a player in.

“When we find a player who we think will make our team better, we will do it.

“We want more than only to play football.

“We know other players can make our young squad better and make our team better.

“When there is an opportunity and it’s possible, we will do it.”
