MARK Wotte held his first press conference as head coach this afternoon and announced he is confident Saints will survive.
Wotte was appointed after the resignation of Jan Poortvliet on Friday night and takes charge for the first time in tomorrow night's crucial match at Norwich.
Wotte met the media, along with his assistant coaches, Michael Svensson and Dean Gorre.
Wotte said: "We know the situation, we know we're in trouble, but I'm confident with the staff I have selected and the players in the squad that we can maybe change the luck to get better results.
"I think four or five matches this season could have gone the other way easily and we could have nine or 12 more points and we are not sitting here now.
"But we have to look forward and we are going to work every minute of the day, 24 hours a day for a better result and we are confident we are going to do that."
Svensson added: "Mark gave me this opportunity to come in and be assistant to Mark.
"I love the club and I've been here for so long so it was not a hard decision for me to come in."
