SWANSEA City boss Roberto Martinez has said he is keen to sign Saints winger Nathan Dyer on a permanent basis.
The 21-year-old joined the Championship side on loan earlier this month.
Dyer signed a new three-year deal at Saints in the summer, but fell out of favour under previous head coach Jan Poortvliet.
He was initially loaned out to Sheffield United, but that deal expired at the end of December and Swansea were quick to snap him up.
Dyer scored in Swansea's 2-0 FA Cup fourth round win against Pompey at Fratton Park on Saturday.
Martinez said he hopes the clubs can come to an agreement, although he added there was no pressure to work something out in this month's transfer window, which closes next Monday.
"We would like to keep Nathan permanently," he said.
"But it's not down to us. Any deal depends on the parent club and the player's wishes.
"We spoke to Southampton when Nathan joined us on loan about a permanent deal, but we'll have to wait and see.
"At the moment he is definitely with us until the end of the season so there is no pressure to do anything in this window."
Saints' new head coach Mark Wotte yesterday said he was unaware of any firm bids for any of the club's players, but said there had been "some enquiries."
