Mark Wotte has already proved he’s not afraid of making changes and hopes they will continue to have a positive impact on Saints.
The new head coach wasted no time in changing the way the team attack and defend set-pieces, the pre-match routine of the players and even the formation and personnel.
Wotte refuses to criticise predecessor Jan Poortvliet and says it’s just a case of every coach having their own ways of doing things.
But he is optimistic his new methods will add to the foundations already laid and turn good performances into results.
He said: “My job is to change things for the better – to keep things that went well but change things that have to be better.
“If you do what you did, you get what you got.
“It doesn’t mean that before my entry here things weren’t going well because I was part of that.
“Jan did a good job and played good football with this team, but it’s all about winning and he was unlucky we didn’t win that many matches.
“We changed different things – set-pieces, the routine before a game.
“I have a different personality and a different style of coaching that might be of some help.
“Sometimes you have to do something very strange to get this change done and you have to wait for the moment we win a match and build on that.”
