MICHAEL Wilde has told Saints fans he will “always act in the best interests of the club”.
The football board chairman, left, has also defended the job himself and Rupert Lowe have done with regards to the club’s finances since returning to power last May.
He claims “anyone who says they could have done a better job is wishful thinking.”
Wilde was speaking after being sent the open letter issued to him through the Daily Echo by a newly-formed fans group Save our Saints.
SoS members Mike Fenner and Alan Ediss have urged Wilde to pledge his 18 per cent Saints shareholding to their cause.
Save Our Saintshave already talked to major shareholders currently not on the board at St Mary’s and also plan to hold discussions with the Southampton business community.
