MARK Wotte has warned his players they cannot afford to lose focus, even for a minute, if they are to survive in the Championship.
The Saints head coach felt some of his side switched off during Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Birmingham, allowing Keith Fahey to fire in the decisive goal in first half stoppage time.
The Dutchman was also unhappy Saints didn’t take advantage of a ten-minute spell in the first half when Birmingham were a man down, as Lee Carsley received treatment for a head wound.
Wotte, who was “furious” with his players during the break, said there is no room for any lack of focus between now and the end of the season.
“I think some players need to realise that in the Championship you cannot switch off for ten or 15 minutes, or maybe for two minutes,” he said.
