Mark Wotte was left cursing Saints’ luck and the referee after his side drew 1-1 with Blackpool.
The Saints head coach was measured in what he said about the penalty decision that saw his side go behind but was pleased with the way they fought back to equalise at Bloomfield Road.
And with a little more luck Saints might have won it as Andrew Surman struck the post with virtually the last kick of the game.
Wotte said: “I don’t care if it was deserved or not – if you have a free kick in the last second of the match and you hit the post and are so unbelievably close to three points.
“I think it wasn’t our best game in the first half. We had to get ourselves adapted to the pitch which was horrible.
“I don’t want to say something about the referee but I don’t think it was in our favour and for the penalty the boys were absolutely 100 per cent it wasn’t one.”
He added: “I am very proud of my players that we came back after 1-0 and took some risks, David McGoldrick made a great goal and we will see at the end of the season if it’s a valuable point or not.
“I think Plymouth lost and Forest lost but at the end of the season we will know how important this result is.”
