Chris Perry will be a Saints player next season after notching up the required number of games to have his contract extended by a further year.
The veteran 35-year-old centre half has been a rock at the heart of the defence, particularly under Mark Wotte who has paired him with Jan-Paul Saeijs.
After his loan spell at the back end of last season, Perry sealed a permanent move from Luton in the summer on an initial one-year deal – but with the condition it would be extended by a further season if he notched up 25 appearances.
Perry has already exceeded that total, starting 34 times and making two sub appearances, with seven games of the season still remaining and so has every reason to try to ensure he is still a Championship player next season.
Wotte also revealed youngsters Matt Paterson, Joseph Mills and Jack Boyle will be offered new deals.
But other negotiations and talks remain behind closed doors for the time being as the club also waits to discover its fate this season.
