Mark Wotte confessed yesterday’s final day defeat at Nottingham Forest summed up Saints’ season.
Saints dominated large spells of the game and for 70 minutes looked as though they would wrap up a relatively comfortable victory at the City Ground to sign off a disappointing campaign with at least a bit of cheer.
But instead of that, as has been so typical of Saints, they collapsed and lost 3-1 and left the field wondering just how, yet again, they had lost a game they should have won.
Wotte said: “It was a disappointing last 20 minutes and it reflects the season.
“We were able to play some beautiful football, scored a goal, even if we should have scored after one minute which was the best chance, and lost the game.
