Bradley Wright-Phillips was in a philosophical mood after the final game of the season and admitted he just ‘wants to hear some good news.’ Wright-Phillips looked to have put Saints on their way to victory at Nottingham Forest but ended up on the losing side as Saints slumped to a 3-1 defeat.
With relegation already confirmed it didn’t matter that much but it clearly still hurt the squad and Wright-Phillips who is facing an uncertain future with his contract due to expire this summer.
When asked about his future he said: “I know as much as the next man.
“We have got some meetings coming up and I just want to hear some good news.
“I haven’t got a contract come June and I haven’t got a clue.
“I can see still being here because I’m still here now and it’s hard to imagine myself in another kit – it was like that when I left Manchester City.
“I do see myself in a Saints shirt but at the moment with what’s going on it’s really not up to me.
“I’ve been through a lot at Southampton – I’ve met some great people, I’ve got in trouble and I think I’ve become a better player although I don’t think I’ve got to show it that much. I really don’t.
“I do feel as though I’ve grown in all different aspects.”
