CHAMPIONSHIP clubs are already starting to target Saints players as they sense cheap pickings to be had if the club does not find new owners soon.

The likes of player of the season Kelvin Davis, David McGoldrick, Adam Lallana and Andrew Surman are attracting interest.

And even Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have enquired about winger Nathan Dyer!

The Daily Echo understands that clubs have made contact with the players’ agents, but have not tabled official bids yet.

Davis is believed to be attracting interest from Leeds United and Bristol City.

The goalkeeper has stated his desire to remain at St Mary’s – citing the fact his family is settled in the Southampton area as a primary reason for staying.

But Bristol is less than two hours’ drive from the south coast, meaning Davis and his family would not necessarily have to move home to stay in the Championship.
