SAINTS head coach Mark Wotte is set to discuss his future at the club over the next few days.
Wotte flew back from Holland yesterday and is scheduled to meet members of the Pinnacle group today and tomorrow.
The Dutchman’s position is one of many footballing issues the club’s potential new ownership will have to discuss with him.
After being chosen as preferred bidders last Friday, Pinnacle are hoping to formally complete a takeover of Saints before their 21-day period of exclusivity expires.
While all the legal aspects of the deal are being taken care of, they are keen to sort out as much as they can on the playing side.
That is likely to include what players they wish to keep and what sort of a management structure they would like to put into place.
All of those topics are likely to be covered with Wotte, along with a general chat about each party’s vision for Saints.
The Dutchman himself has been working hard since the season ended to persuade players he sees in the club’s plans to remain.
He has notably spoken with the out-of-contract Kelvin Davis, Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips about possibly extending their stays at Saints and offering them tentative new deals.
Wotte has previously insisted he would like to continue in his role, assuming whoever takes over the club shares his philosophy and long-term vision for the side.
However, he did not want to say much until he had met with members of the group such as Pinnacle’s Tony Lynam and Matt Le Tissier, who could well be installed as football board chairman if the club’s sale goes through.
“I am interested to listen to their plans for the future and until those meetings have taken place I do not wish to make a comment,” Wotte said last night.
The Daily Echo exclusively revealed over a fortnight ago that Forest were tracking the Nottingham-born striker.
McGoldrick grew up in the East Midlands city – he started his career at Forest’s rivals Notts County – and still has family and friends there.
There has also been interest in other members of Saints’ squad – QPR are showing interest in Adam Lallana and Andrew Surman and Bristol City in player of the year Davis.
