MARK WOTTE has revealed he has been approached by clubs abroad, as he waits for a decision on his future as Saints head coach.

The Dutchman’s position at St Mary’s is uncertain, with the Pinnacle group close to sealing a takeover of the club.

Wotte, who took over the top job after Jan Poortvliet resigned in January, is on a rolling contract.

His initial six-month deal as head coach is due to expire on July 1, when he is scheduled to officially return to his original post of academy director.

He appreciates Pinnacle may want to bring in their own people, and a move to another role or a clean break is a possibility.

However, Wotte would ideally like to continue as Saints boss.

He was due to meet the group’s representatives, thought to include Tony Lynam and Matt Le Tissier, yesterday.

However, that was put back until today, while Pinnacle were busy sorting out other issues.

Although he has received what he described as good offers from abroad, Wotte, pictured above, will not act on any interest until he knows his situation at Saints.

No final decision on his future could be taken until Pinnacle complete a deal, although an indication could certainly be given.

“The last couple of weeks I have received some offers from abroad, but I have told them I am waiting for Saints to make a decision,” he said.

“We have to see today what the future will bring for all of us.

“If the club wants me to continue I’m happy to do it, but if the club doesn’t want me to continue I hope they will face better times very soon and hopefully have a situation where the financial troubles are gone and there is stability and continuity.

Wotte will discuss McGoldrick and Surman’s situations with members of proposed new owners, the Pinnacle group, today.

“Nottingham Forest have been offering money for David McGoldrick,” he said.

“For Andrew Surman there were some enquiries, but only one official bid.

“We are going to talk about it today with the Pinnacle group.

“We have put everything on hold until then and we will see today where we are as a club and how strong we are to keep hold of our players.”

Wotte is pleased Pinnacle reaching a period of exclusivity has strengthened Saints’ bargaining position with clubs looking for a cheap deal.

However, he hinted Saints are willing to cut their losses with Polish strikers Grzegorz Rasiak and Marek Saganowski.

“I’m happy with the agreement for three weeks from the Pinnacle group, because it makes our position stronger towards other clubs that were really looking for a bargain buy,” he said.

“I always said to these clubs that we will not sell our players on the cheap.

“Starting players in the team have to go for the right amount of money if we allow them to go, except for Rasiak and Saganowski.

“They are looking for another club, because they don’t want to play League One football, so we will consider any offers for them.”

Dyer yesterday joined Swansea on a threeyear contract, linking up permanently with the club he finished last season on loan at.

The deal is understood to involve £200,000 up front and £200,000 at a later date.

It was allowed to go through as it had already been agreed before Pinnacle were announced as preferred bidders.

Dyer said: “I’m really happy that it’s all signed and down on paper and I can’t wait to get going in pre-season.”

He added: “I enjoyed my time at Southampton and have many fond memories of the club.”
