ALAN Pardew has piled the pressure on Pompey, declaring they have “no excuse” not to beat Saints.
Pardew was in particularly upbeat mood yesterday, as he looks to mastermind a second famous cup success in a week.
But while Saints were expected to beat MK Dons on Tuesday and reach the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final, Pompey will be firm favourites when the sides meet at St Mary’s in the FA Cup fifth round.
Yet Pardew has no problems with that.
“The pitch is perfect, we play a game of football that will give Portsmouth a chance, so there will be no excuses for Portsmouth to some extent,” he said.
“It’s the perfect platform for them and they should win.”
