ALAN Pardew believes Saints fans will soon have a new hero to worship – Jason Puncheon.

The Saints boss has been delighted with the contributions of his January signing from Plymouth in his two league outings so far.

He has looked good with the ball at his feet and is happy to run at defenders and get crosses in.

Pardew said: “The Southampton fans will find that they have a new hero soon.

“He has fantastic talent, he has shown that in training and showed that on the pitch."
