WEMBLEY opponents Carlisle are set to return more than 2,500 tickets for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final – but NONE are expected to be made available for Saints supporters.
As reported in yesterday’s Daily Echo, thousands of Saints fans are set to miss out on their club’s big day at Wembley on March 28.
Saints were given an allocation for the JPT final of 44,000 – the maximum one team is allowed – but are well on the way to running out of tickets.
The club yesterday passed the 40,000 tickets sold barrier, even though they have not yet gone on traditional general sale at St Mary’s.
Carlisle, meanwhile, were given a total of 24,506 but told the Daily Echo yesterday that they are expecting to shift no more than 22,000 by the time their sales window closes on March 24.
Saints executive chairman Nicola Cortese has contacted the Cumbrian club and the Football League to see if there was any chance of increasing Saints’ allocation.
But Saints won’t be handed any additional tickets due to segregation reasons, with over 20,000 seats due to remain empty on JPT.
And the fact Carlisle are set to return a batch is also unlikely to boost Saints’ hopes.
As the unsold seats will, in all likelihood, be spread out among the Blues fans’ section, it is expected that they will remain with the League rather than handed to Saints for segregation reasons.
