WITH the cancellation of the Nigel Turner Sunday Series match at Orchard Lakes, a series of last-minute sweepstakes on various venues provided the weekend's action.

Bournemouth Lodge held a sweepstake at Paul Miller's Whitemoor Lakes, a silver fish-only match, and the results were superb.

Bournemouth Lodge's Chris Albiston took a massive 64lb 8oz of skimmers to 2lb 8oz on the pole and soft pellet at six metres to win comfortably. Steve Hemmings fished his favourite pole and caster to land 54lb of roach and rudd to finish second with Nathan Fox third with 42lb of roach on pole and caster.

Others C Mapstone 36lb 8oz, N Fitzgerald 32lb 8oz, M Dean 28lb, bottom weight was a superb 18lb.

l TVAC Golden Peg money of £200 almost went to Dwayne Seed at Greenbridge Farm.

Seed, fishing on peg 13 on canal two, took a massive 141lb 5oz to the scales, only to see Andy Haydon, on peg 20, shade him with 149lb 13oz of carp to 8lb on the pole and maggot to the far bank. Harry Salkeld finished third with 77lb 9oz with Mick Small fourth with 76lb 10oz. Top performer from Canal 1 was Poingdestres' Pete Newman with 69lb 2oz.
