THE quick-fire style of 13-year-old Billy Castle dented the title hopes of Dan Hildyard in the £1,000 under-21 Roll-Up at Chandler's Ford Snooker Club.

Castle (Marchwood) rattled in a 36 to take the first frame in the final and beat the reigning champion 3-0. A second tournament win of this series took him up to within five points of the top spot.

A win would have taken Hildyard level with his brother Jason, pictured left, at the top of the rankings with just six weeks to go in the 20-week series.

Since a handicap cut a month ago, the 15-year-old had only won once, but this week bounced back to beat Lee Ashbolt, Scott McGaw and Lee Roling.

Hildyard knocked in a 57 and Ashbolt a 53, but Peter Maraziotis, 17, claimed the day's top break with a 76 against Toby Shefford.

Ollie Tydeman, the 16-year-old captain of the Chandler's Ford junior team who have just won promotion to the Winchester Premier League, suffered a semi-final exit.

Playing in only his third tournament, 14-year-old Kevin Impett potted a new high break of 25 in his Plate semi-final win against Jordan Sainsbury.

Otterbourne's John Smith won the final with a fine run of 35 to add to his 43 in the first round.
